Seminar: What Next for Religious Education?
Tickets available here.
In September 2018 the Commission on Religious Education reported after two years of deliberation, setting out an agenda for the future of the curriculum subject in schools in England and Wales. It highlighted ongoing concerns about the quality of teachers and teaching, commitment and motivation in schools for its inclusion stemming from contested aims and purposes and made radical proposals for its future development.
This seminar offers an opportunity for policy makers, practitioners, academics working in the field and other stakeholders to engage with research-informed perspectives on the Commission's report. Thus, the place of RE on the school curriculum will be viewed from a range of perspectives. It will provide a space to share ideas, map interests and consider collaborative projects, at the levels of practice, policy and further research to take RE as a curriculum subject further forwards.
