Symposium: What’s the ‘use’ in Higher Education?

As part of a symposium series, funded by the Society for Educational Studies, this first event will examine how usefulness of Higher Education was conceived of in the past, inspired the University of Strathclyde’s prevailing identity as the ‘Place of Useful Learning’.

Keynote talks by Professor Robert Davis (University of Glasgow) and Dr Karsten Kenklies (University of Strathclyde), and presentations from international scholars, aim to illuminate historical notions of ‘use’ pertaining to higher education.

Who can attend: This event is free to attend and open to university staff and students of any institution, level, and discipline. Registration is required.

Refreshments: Tea, coffee, and lunch will be provided for in person attendees.
