‘Rooted Cosmopolitanism’ in education
Rowena Azada-Palacios (Ateneo de Manila University) and Janet Orchard (SoE, University of Bristol)
Please join us for an in-person, work in progress session on ‘Rooted Cosmopolitanism’ in education. The event will take place in 2 parts with a short break around 1.00pm if you can only attend half the session.
Part 1 (12 noon – 1.00pm)
An introduction to and discussion of 3 key chapters in Marianna Papastephanou’s influential 2016 book, ‘Thinking Differently About Cosmopolitanism: Theory, Eccentricity, and the Globalized World’. It might help you to pre-read these texts in advance of the session but if you don’t have time, don’t let that put you off!
Part Two (1.10 – 2.00pm)
Rowena and Janet will discuss their working paper “Teaching as Rooted Cosmopolitans: Towards Justice-Oriented Internationalization in Higher Education”, (paper available from edjlo@bristol.ac.uk on request).
Please join us and feel free to bring your lunch!
