Educational Philosophy Cafe at the BERA Conference
The BERA Philosophy of Education SIG are hosting an Educational Philosophy Cafe at this year’s BERA Conference in Manchester.
The session will take place on Tuesday 8 September at 11.30am. If you are attending BERA this year you are invited to join the session and to contribute in advance by submitting a question or provocation for discussion. Submit via this form by Tuesday 1 September.
The session will involve small group discussions, each centred around a question or provocation. One member of the group will act as a ‘scribe’ and the group will be invited to share the scope of their discussion with the full group at the end of the session.
The session is not designed to host debates in which a particular side of the argument should seek to win but rather to be an opportunity for longer-form discussion of matters that may be new and emerging, or perennial to the field and to educational policy and practice. As such, and in line with the aims of the SIG, the space will be welcoming and inclusive for experienced and early career researchers and practitioners alike, and provide an important space for development of community in this field of educational research, which can be built upon in future events and collaborations.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a cafe without food and drink. We would like to thank the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB) Development Committee for their financial support for catering and materials for this event.
