His books include Romanticism and Education: Love, Heroism and Imagination in Pedagogy (Continuum, 2007), Hope and Education: The Role of the Utopian Imagination (Routledge, 2003) and Devolution and Choice in Education (with G. Whitty & S. Power, Open University Press, 1998).
