South Coast Branch Virtual Seminar

‘Theorising a dialogic approach to holistic Islamic education’
Dr. Farah Ahmed, (Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge)

17.30pm – 18.30pm

This short presentation will briefly outline the notion of a dialogical Muslim-self as a means to address contemporary Muslim double consciousness. I will then introduce some foundational Islamic ontological and epistemological concepts that allow for a dialogic conceptualisation of education from within an Islamic paradigm. Finally, I will illustrate dialogic pedagogy through the example of a traditional halaqah (circle of learning) operating as a transformative, dialogic space.
